Wedding Ceremonies

"What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined together to strengthen each other in all labour, to face together all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent memories?"

Your wedding ceremony is the symbolic beginning of your new life together in marriage. I am here to help you create the day that you will celebrate for years to come. I encourage you to have as much input as possible in your ceremony and other aspects of your special day.

A typical wedding ceremony might follow an overall plan such as:

Opening Words and Introduction
Declaration of Intentions
Acknowledgement of the Gathered Company
Readings
Exchange of Vows
Exchange of Rings
Signing of the Register and License
Pronouncement
Closing Words

The items highlighted in bold are elements that are required by the Province of Ontario. All other items may be omitted or expanded upon, or you may introduce other elements into the ceremony. The tone can be formal, informal, humorous, romantic, family-oriented, or anything you and your partner wish, as long as the required elements are included. I can provide you with outlines of several sample ceremonies which we can customize according to your vision. I can also assist you by providing samples of vows, rituals, readings and other optional elements to personalize your ceremony.
